JORDAN ROBERTS
Artist

BIOGRAPHY
I am an urban artist
born and raised in Vancouver Canada and have spent most of my thirty-three
years close to the city center. Punk rock, skateboarding and hip-hop have
played a large role in both my personal and artistic development. Artistic
influences are subway graffiti, abstract expressionism of the 1950’s and
neo-expressionism of the 1980’s. My work reflects both the history of Art
and the attitudes and issues of urban youth. I feel no boundaries with
either materials or subject matter and process is my ultimate joy. The
images and messages conveyed in my paintings reflect both my own personal
experiences and my exploration into all aspects of animal existence.
Other artists who have
influenced and inspired my work are Cy Twombley, Jean Michel Basquiat and
Donald “Dondi” White.
I completed the Studio Art Program at
Capilano College in 1994 and later that year mounted a solo exhibition at
The Ferry Building Gallery in West Vancouver. I have exhibited in solo and
many group exhibitions in and around Vancouver since that time.
